Frequently Asked Questions

How did you end up in Hong Kong?

What started as a childhood love of Hello Kitty progressed into a full blown obsession with all aspects of Asia-from fashion to politics.  I visited China for the first time during the Beijing Olympics and became totally enamored with it so when the opportunity arose for me to spend four months in Hong Kong, I jumped at the chance.  A mere three days after landing, I began making plans to extend my trip and six years later I love the city even more than the day I arrived!  I recently relocated to San Francisco but return to Hong Kong regularly.

What do you do for a living?

In 2013 I  founded a bespoke matchmaking service called Anteros International, the agency was acquired earlier this year (you can read more about that here) and I now work as a full time content creator and brand strategist.

Why did you start a blog?

The decision to move to Hong Kong opened so many doors that I could never have fathomed.  I've had the opportunity to travel extensively, meet interesting people from all over the world, and even start my own business-a life long dream! I started Vanity Capital as a way to document the places I go, the people I meet, and the things I learn along the way.  I hope to inspire others to live the lives they imagine.

What is Vanity Capital?

Inspired by the ideas of sociologists, Catherine Hakim and Pierre Bourdieu and economics Nobel Laureate Gary Becker, Vanity Capital is the combination of physical presentation and social graces that enables and enhances an individuals ability to succeed.

Why did you name your blog that?

To have high Vanity Capital one must not only look good, they must be articulate, informed, cultured, and charismatic.  While I love fashion, I'm equally passionate about economics and sociology.  I find the name Vanity Capital encompasses my intentions for the blog to be a source of inspiration and information on fashion, travel, success and relationships.
